No. 2 Ground Truth

ZUS built the app before it built the café.

~550 outlets~RM250m private equity round

ZUS Coffee's line is "premium quality at an affordable price." It's true, and any chain can say it.

The decision underneath is harder to copy. In 2019, ZUS built its app for ordering ahead and delivery before the first outlet opened. The café came second.

The way that reads to us, ZUS was building for people with no time to spare, who want to know exactly what they're getting. They order and pay in the app, then collect at the counter.

Within about five years: roughly 550 outlets in Malaysia, backed by a private equity round of around RM250 million.

Ask what your customer needs from you, then build that first. At ZUS, as we read it: an order that is sorted before they reach the counter.
